About the speakers

Nancy Russell was appointed Senior Vice-President and Chief Internal Auditor in
June 2024. In this role, Nancy oversees and advises on EDC’s internal controls, risk
management, and governance processes. Her team provides independent and
objective assurance and advice regarding operations, reporting, and compliance
with relevant laws and regulations.
Since June 2023, Nancy has also served as the Chief Independent Accountability
Mechanism officer for FinDev Canada.
Prior to joining EDC, Nancy spent 25 years with Great-West Lifeco where she held
several senior roles before becoming Senior Vice President and Chief Internal
Auditor. More recently, Nancy was the Senior Managing Director and Deputy Chief
Auditor with the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America in North
Carolina.
Nancy obtained her B.Com Honours from Queen’s University and has her
Chartered Accountant’s designation, as well as a certification, from the Institute of
Corporate Directors. She sits on the Board of Goodwill Industries, Ontario Great
Lakes, and previously served on the YMCA and Canadian Institute of Internal Audit
boards. A health and wellness advocate, Nancy has her Functional Medicine Health
Coach certification and is pursuing her Yoga Instructor certification.
