The internal audit profession is experiencing a steady rate of growth in North America, The IIA’s 2024 North American Pulse Survey finds. However, while internal audit budgets are growing steadily, 1 in 4 audit functions still feel their funding is insufficient for meeting growing demands on their teams. The annual Pulse of Internal Audit report, published by The Internal Audit Foundation and co-sponsored by AuditBoard, surveyed 448 internal audit CAEs and Directors in North America for their insights on their internal audit activities.
The results suggest CAEs are experiencing talent and skills shortages as they simultaneously grapple with increasing workloads and risks associated with evolving technologies. About half of CAEs surveyed indicated if they had extra budget, they would prioritize increasing in-house staff, following by investing in enabling technologies. Download the full report to learn:
