Tell us a little about Constellium and some of the challenges you faced in your previous manual audit environment.

Karen Albert (Vice President and Head of Internal Audit: “Constellium is a global leader in the development of manufacturing of high-value-added aluminum products and solutions, as well as in aluminum recycling. When I first arrived at Constellium in April of 2021, we used a tool that was inadequate for our needs, particularly for the internal audit department. It was primarily used for reporting control self-assessments related to our SOX compliance program. However, it lacked any internal audit or enterprise risk management functionality, forcing us to rely on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for all of these other processes.”

How has AuditBoard improved your processes?

Thomas Lelu (Internal Audit and Internal Control Manager): “Since implementing our program with AuditBoard, we’ve observed significant qualitative and quantitative improvement. This includes audit efficiency, issue resolution, reporting, and stakeholder satisfaction. With everything tracked and stored in AuditBoard, we’ve eliminated the need for physical paperwork or scanned signatures. Clear accountability deadlines and automated reminders ensure the process runs smoothly every quarter. What used to take several days of effort now requires only a few hours, freeing up valuable time for more critical tasks.”

How has AuditBoard’s connected risk platform enabled your teams to collaborate effectively?

Karen Albert (Vice President and Head of Internal Audit: “At Constellium, our many manufacturing sites and administrative offices are somewhat decentralized. For us, a connected risk environment means that we can identify themes across both audit and controls testing that can be shared proactively to allow other sites to take corrective actions. Digitalizing our audit and controls testing and the resulting issues in AuditBoard has allowed us to see these connections more readily. This has led to communication of key themes and common issues to the stakeholders through various channels, including our quarterly finance town halls, our internal audit page on the company’s intranet, and meetings with our business unit leaders and the risk and control champion network across Constellium.”
